Through RAID redundant technology, disk array acts as a secure and reliable data storage medium for data center and accelerates communication speed between the disk and the host machine, and thus the running speed of the system can also be improved; besides, disk array is also an important component of database cluster and application of highly reliable architecture. There are now three mainstream disk array connection modes: DAS, NAS and SAN.

The picture below is a typical construction scheme of unified storage. Disk array supports both NAS and SAN storage. For application server with low requirement on performance, the inter-linkage to storage can be performed through NAS Ethernet. While making the best of network resource, the management difficulty of the data is also reduced; as the database has higher requirement on performance, it is suggested that the inter-linkage to storage be performed through SAN network to improve the performance of IO and reducing the conflict with Ethernet resource. Moreover, middle and high-end storage provides data volume replication so the data can be transferred to remote disaster tolerant center.
